MoosingChomp

How MoosingChomp ads work

A short, plain account of what you see on a page and what happens behind it.

What an ad is

An ad is a short piece of text, sometimes with a picture, that points to another one of our sites. It is always labeled Ad. When you select it, the link opens in a new tab.

An example page. A short ad with the small label Ad above a headline, one sentence and a link. Further down, a small footer mark links to the list of member sites.
An example of an ad and the footer mark, as they look on one of our sites.

Which sites show them

The sites that show MoosingChomp ads belong to the NeoNue network. A small mark in the footer of each site says so and links to the list of member sites.

Who decides what appears

What your browser loads

When a page shows a MoosingChomp ad, your browser asks moosingchomp.com for up to three small files:

FileWhat it is
The ad scriptA small program that reads the list and draws the ad. It never changes the rest of the page.
The list of adsA small data file. It holds the approved ads, with their words and links.
A pictureOnly if the ad has one.

Your browser asks for these the way it asks for any file on the web. The web host and its network can see the request, including your IP address and your browser details.

What is not stored

If you would rather not see them

An ad blocker works. The page looks and behaves the same without the ad.
